Auros answers university challenge
Client profile
York St John University descended from two colleges founded in
the
1800s. The University now provides a variety of subjects across
four
faculties for 5,000+ students.
Business need
In order for their marketers to use the website as a marketing
tool, York St John needed to update their content management
system to allow easier editing and publishing ensuring success
in an increasingly competitive Higher Education (HE) market.
The solution had to be scalable, flexible and integrate with
their existing large document management library. The University
library also required a formal document management solution.
York St John chose Auros for this important project, due to its
depth of experience within the HE sector as well as its ability to
respond and react to York St John’s future requirements.
What Auros did
Auros implemented a web content management system with document
management, a staff intranet and a student extranet
membership system.
The creative design reflected stakeholder input and specifically
the campus environment and life. This approach provided Marketing
with the freedom to update and adjust content, design and layout
without having to manage requests through IT.
Since Auros delivered the new website, course applications
have
increased by 27% on last year, well above the sector average
(16%).
International applications are up by an impressive 113% and
the
University has experienced a significant increase in usage of their
website.
University staff can now easily adjust the site content,
structure and layout, to meet the needs of the significantly
increased site users. The intranet provides the University with an
engaging and relevant intranet that the 1,000 staff can update and
contribute to quickly and easily.
While the student extranet ensured that the university could
keep students and alumni up to date and provide a platform
for collaboration.
