Industry Leading Glenigan.com Raises the Bar
Glenigan.com, an Emap company, assists 1000’s
of customers annually by providing them with an accurate, reliable
and complete picture of UK construction activity. From
maintaining personal industry knowledge, tracking key industry
players and trends, identifying new project and contract
opportunities, improving win rates and opening doors to the right
people at the right time, a Glenigan.com subscription is a
substantial online resource. Built on intelligence sourced
from over 6.5 million construction projects and 1 million
construction companies, ‘The Glenigan Index’ provides the barometer
for UK construction industry trend reporting.
In June 2008 following a highly competed
selection process Emap chose WCMS (Web Content Management System)
implementation specialists Auros as their project partner to
re-develop two existing Glenigan websites, a brochureware and a
subscriber site. Auros’ primary responsibility was to drive
the launch of a unified and feature rich website. The site
will provide a significantly enhanced online experience for both
public users of the site and subscribed members.
At present non-subscribed visitors face a lapse
time of up to 24 hours before they can sample services due to the
manual processes involved before a free trial can be granted. The
new site will enable visitors to sample the services before being
prompted to register with a Glenigan representative.
The new site combines a powerful online charting
capability (developed based on the Dundas platform) and the ability
for users to create custom reports ‘on the fly’ with comprehensive
industry analysis. The use of 3D pictorial models will ensure
that complex data can be easily interpreted and Key Performance
Indicators accurately depicted. These features will provide
Glenigan.com subscribers with an enhanced and highly personalised
user experience enabling them to make more informed decisions about
their business activities in the construction and/or property
development sectors.
Other Glenigan.com features include the ability
for subscribers to receive Planning Alerts when relevant planning
applications are released by Local Planning Authorities,
collaboration tools to allow project teams to share knowledge on
key projects and a Custom Statistics tool which allows the
extraction of data to create powerful customised presentations.
The re-developed Glenigan.com site is currently
undergoing extensive User Acceptance Testing and will be formally
showcased at Interbuild 2008, NEC Birmingham on 26th
October.
IT and Quality Control Director at Emap Glenigan,
Mark Baker commented;
“The site Auros has developed is a very
complex mix of both content and database queries. The project
was approached in an extremely professional manner with strong
Project Management and regular and clear communication with
ourselves. Auros have provided a good balance of creativity
and ways to improve the product, with a strict avoidance of 'scope
creep' to ensure the project was delivered on time.”
With a common understanding of what needed to be
undertaken and clarity of the roles, responsibilities and
requirements for both parties, the Auros and Emap Glenigan
partnership will undoubtedly deliver a project that provides
genuine business benefit and maximises the potential of the
underlying Web Content Management System (Immediacy) deployed by
Auros. Baker continues;
“We selected Auros from a number of potential
development partners because of their track record with Immediacy
developments, their technical capability, and general
enthusiasm.”
The Auros Glenigan partnership is a long term
agreement which will see Auros working with Glenigan to deliver
subsequent project phases, in addition to providing a comprehensive
hosting solution and ongoing training and support services.
Auros Managing Director, Dominic Mills, speaking
about the project said:
“This project presented a fantastic
opportunity for Emap Glenigan to work closely in partnership with
Auros, leveraging both our WCMS credentials and track record in
delivering transactional corporate websites that provide
demonstrable return on investment. We are privileged to be
able to work with this major brand and are excited about the
re-launch of Glenigan.com.”
Setting standards in analytical science – together
Auros is happy to announce the successful
delivery of a new web presence for LGC, market leader in analytical
science. The go-live milestone brings online LGC’s new brand
identity.
LGC is an international
science-based company and market leader in analytical, forensic and
diagnostic services and reference standards.
Over the past decade or so, LGC has acquired and merged with a
number of companies, as a result of which it inevitably inherited
several websites with different Content Management strategies and
histories in terms of design, technologies, tools, developers or
hosts. In line with its corporate strategy, LGC wished to
operate a more unified approach to its online presence,
specifically using a single Content Management System, with
development, implementation and support being provided by a single
partner.
LGC identified a number of key business benefits that would be
realised as a result of this approach:
- Centralised control of branding, technology and security
- Economies of scale gained from a common hosting platform and
Content Management System.
- Specific site owner’s within LGC do not need to go through the
process of specifying, sourcing, design, implementing and
supporting, each time a new site is required.
LGC chose to work with Auros and the Immediacy Content
Management System (CMS) to realise these benefits.
Auros, the leading Immediacy implementation partner, was
responsible initially for building and delivering one corporate
site for LGC, with customised home pages for each of LGC’s four
operating divisions: Life & Food Sciences, LGC Forensics,
Research & Technology and LGC Standards.
The site has been delivered first in the English language but
has been deployed with the capability to publish content in French
and German. Website users will then be able to select
their preferred language.
An equally important part of LGC’s new online presence is the
delivery of a new brand identity. Auros worked closely with
the corporate branding team at LGC to realise exciting new visual
designs for the sites.
Auros delivered a training programme for LGC and is providing a
support contract for long term post go-live support, a crucial area
for LGC given the 350,000+ page views and over 7,000 visitors that
their sites receive daily.
