Auros drives a more cohesive user journey for British CarAuctions
Client profile
Selling more than 12,000 vehicles a week in
physical auctions and over the internet, British Car Auctions (BCA)
has an annual turnover of over £4 billion and is Europe's largest
vehicle remarketing company.
Business need
BCA's websites provide critical access to
auctions for all of BCA's customers. Traditionally targeting trade,
BCA needed their website to address a new, consumer audience.
The BCA corporate site and auction site needed to
be integrated, streamlining content updates and providing a more
cohesive user experience.
What Auros did
Auros upgraded the Content Management System
(CMS) and provided full integration between the bespoke auction web
application and the CMS driving the corporate website. Migrating
nearly 5,000 pages of content, resulted in a single, unified,
end-user experience.
Creative updates improved user journeys and
provided a single look and feel. The new content architecture helps
to ensure that the audience is engaged and that UK users have easy
access to the European sites and vice-versa.
Auros developed and implemented additional 'find
your nearest auction centre' functionality using Yahoo's Geocode
service. The Auros 'Literal Insert Anything' plug-in was
implemented allowing a survey from an external site to be
incorporated into the BCA website.
Auros delivered the project into BCA's hosted
environment, which required careful planning to ensure that BCA's
strict ITIL change management processes were followed and complied
with.
The BCA online service is white-labelled for
trade vendors, making search rankings particularly critical.
Auros developed and implemented custom
functionality to permanently re-direct approximately 100 pages to
their new equivalent pages (301 re-directs) to ensure site
performance and Search Engine Optimisation remained strong.
The integrated Auction View functionality now
gives trade buyers a seamless web experience.
