Build

Auros man building a wallAuros’ approach to building each client project is tailored and personal, while always based on the fundamental principle that the finished product must be ‘fit for purpose’.

We go to great lengths to establish what ‘fit for purpose’ means at the outset, and use our considerable experience and well-proven, carefully honed project delivery methodology to ensure a successful outcome.

In each instance, once we have established what ‘fit for purpose’ means, we challenge this, thinking innovatively and beyond the obvious, working proactively with the client to surpass their expectations.

The build process runs through a sequence of stages that can be best explained like this:

Understanding What We Need to Deliver

The ‘build’ element of the Auros service delivery approach is like the assembly stage in a manufacturing operation.

We start by making sure that we have thoroughly understood the client’s requirements both in functional and non-functional terms. We also ensure that we have a common understanding with the client by documenting these and seeking client sign-off before proceeding to the next stage. These documents form the baseline for both the definition of our proposed solution, and the subsequent build process.

Defining the Solution

Our solutions typically build on best-of-breed ‘off the shelf’ third party products. In line with our philosophy of providing real business benefits over simply selling software solutions, we work to provide our clients with the functionality they require to achieve their goals, extending and adapting our extensive library of web applications as we do so.

The combination of highly scalable and extensible Web Content Management Systems together with Auros’ development expertise, enables us to deliver intuitive and robust online applications that solve complex business problems and improve organisational productivity.

We also bring considerable systems integration expertise to bear, enabling us to take a holistic view of the project. Rather than being constrained to purely customisation of a WCMS, we can provide a fully integrated solution, often building interfaces with other third party systems such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Finance and Human Resources systems, E-Commerce, Email Marketing, Web Analytics applications and search appliances.

We are equally happy guiding and assisting our clients in defining all aspects of the integration of WCM with their overall business systems, or simply concentrating on the WCM piece of the jigsaw.

Identifying the End Point

This is something that we like to do at the outset of each new project. It gives us a clear target to aim for, assists in the management of change, and perhaps most importantly, gives both ourselves and our clients a set of metrics by which to measure our progress.

Making it Happen

Our experience has shown that the secret to a successful build is all in the preparation. Once we have understood the requirements, defined the solution, agreed with the client how we will know when we have crossed the finish line; only then are we ready to build.

We involve the Auros team members who will deliver a particular project right from the pre-contract stage, ensuring that communication is constant, as is the sharing of ideas. This group is responsible for translating user requirements into technical specifications, and for transforming these specifications into a working solution that is ready for testing.

As a UKAS-approved ISO9001 company our methodologies reflect our wish to ensure that each project we deliver is truly ‘fit for purpose’. We do this by constant reference, throughout the build process, back to the requirements and acceptance criteria agreed at the outset. The dedicated software-testing professionals in our team are responsible for ensuring that the agreed requirements have been met, and also that the solution is compliant with relevant standards and best practice. Only once these ‘gatekeepers’ are happy do we release our web solutions to the stakeholders responsible for client user-acceptance testing.

Ready to Go

We’re happy to take full responsibility for content migration to your new website, or provide you with the support you need to deliver this all-important aspect of any WCM project.

We always take full responsibility for deploying the website into your live environment, regardless of whether this is hosted by Auros, a third party, or yourselves. We think this ownership is important to ensure that what we have built is successfully deployed, and we recognise that further post-installation testing is crucial to take account of any environment-specific considerations.

Throughout the build process we seek to provide advice and guidance, never losing sight of the business benefit that you are entrusting us to deliver. Ultimately we aim to provide intuitive and robust online applications that solve complex business problems, and improve organisational productivity.
